A new documentary featuring Carol Glenn, Britain’s first Black female motorsports official, is set to launch on sports broadcaster TNT. The film follows Glenn’s journey in launching her new Formula Ford team, Next Generation Racing, making her the first woman of color in the country to do so. Directed by filmmaker Daisy Ifama, the documentary “Set Pace” is part of a new series highlighting the untold stories of women in sport, in collaboration with TNT Sports Reframe the Game and Warner Bros Discovery Access program.
Glenn’s story as a trailblazer in motorsports is spotlighted in the film, revealing the obstacles and microaggressions she faces in her field. The documentary captures Glenn managing her team over a race weekend at Silverstone, showcasing the origins of Next Generation Racing. Glenn emphasizes the importance of representation for people of Black and Brown communities in the industry, aiming to inspire future generations.
The film has received positive reviews since its premiere, with TNT Sports presenter Suzi Perry recognizing Glenn as an “amazing person” and an inspirational figure in British motorsport. Director Daisy Ifama admires Glenn’s tenacity and perseverance during her 37-year career, hoping the documentary will inspire viewers. Glenn’s vision is to normalize diversity in motorsports and create more opportunities for underrepresented communities in the sport.
